Congregational members bring skills, resources and a genuine interest in helping their fellow residents. Nurses from several congregations conduct blood pressure screenings.
Each congregation provides snack foods and volunteer personnel. Several congregations provide language interpreters to assist the screeners and service providers.
One or more prayer stations are staffed by participating church members.
Pastors and laypeople alike serve on the steering committee for the healthcare and related Congregational activity.
Our sponsors provide resources without which the scope of our health fair would be seriously limited. Lehigh Valley Health Network, Health Network Labs and the Allentown Health Bureau provide a wide range of health screenings.
Several insurance agencies provide financial support and personal health supplies.
Sodexo provides lunches for all of the volunteers and Nestlé, Inc. supplies bottled water for participants.
Service providers come from a wide range of not-for-profit community agencies and healthcare organizations.
At least 6 to 8 health screenings are provided annually. Follow-up appointments are encouraged for at risk participants. While many attendees have access to personal health care insurance, strong efforts are made to connect those without insurance to appropriate insurance providers.
A wide range of broad-based family health services are provided. These sources are governmental, legal, spiritual, health, counseling and social service related.
